Description

Up for offer is a silver-plated antique livery button with the rare crest of a turkey 'in his pride', and the French motto "Ala Volonte De Dieu", meaning "By The Will of God", in a garter belt. This is the crest and motto of Strickland. Apparently William Strickland was the first to bring turkeys to the UK in 1526, and thus he and his ancestors bore this unusual turkeycock crest. The button is in excellent condition, with slight wear to high points. Backmark is Warranted Best Quality. It measures 1 inch / 26 mm across. Be sure to check out the other buttons I have listed!
