Description
Rare Antique 1884 Edward P. Haff CORKSCREW Direct Straight Pull with Button and Wood Handle Marked "PATENT APPLIED FOR" Made in U.S.A. Description: This is a very hard to find version of American Edward P. Haff's 1885 patent - the one with the button on the shank. Edward Haff of Brooklyn, New York, took out patents for a variety of methods of attaching shanks to handles between 1884 and 1885. I do not know the plating of the band and button - it is silver looking so I do not think it is brass. Since it is marked "PATENT APPLIED FOR" it would appear to be a very early version of the patent. Marked across the top of the central metal band: "PATENT APPLIED FOR" The item pictured is the very item you will receive. This item is vintage and is recommended for its vintage value, but not necessarily for actual usage. Approximate size: 5 1/4" long, 4" wide. Weight: 2 oz. Condition: In VERY GOOD condition. There is wear consistent with age and use. Please see all photos for a complete description. I gladly combine shipping if practical and cost effective. Ask any questions before purchasing. Item is sold as-is. Returns are not accepted.
